Pokémon drawings and invites at other stores
Target and Walmart aren't the only ones. Dick's Sporting Goods runs app drawings, Best Buy and Amazon sell some releases by invite, and hobby shops such as Many Realms hold online drawings that close within hours. Here's how each works and what's open now.
Target and the other stores open drawings without notice. Email me when one opens: $2.99

Dick's Sporting Goods: app drawing
Dick's sells its most-wanted card releases through draws in the Dick's mobile app, run by its Collectors Clubhouse card shops. The current Pokémon draws opened Thu, Nov 5, 9:00 a.m. ET and close Mon, Nov 10, 9:00 a.m. ET (6:00 a.m. PT).
- In the draw: 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collection at $379, Ditto Premium Collection at $80, Figure Collection, Delta Reign Elite Trainer Box at $80 and Booster Bundle.
- Prices are Dick's own and above MSRP. The Ultra-Premium Collection lists for $179.99 at Best Buy, the Delta Reign ETB for $49.99. Check the price in the app before you enter.
- How to enter: install the Dick's app, sign in to a free ScoreCard account, open Releases, pick the product, choose Ship or Pick Up In-Store, then Enter Draw.
- Results: winners are told in the app and by email. Ship entries are charged automatically to the card entered; pickup winners get the store details.
- One entry per ScoreCard account.
Dick's explains the process on its Dick's launch FAQ. It ran an earlier Pokémon draw for the 30th Celebration launch in mid-September, also above MSRP.
Best Buy: invite requests
For some releases Best Buy replaces the buy button with an invite request. You request an invite on the product page, Best Buy picks requesters at random, and those picked get an email and app notice with a window to buy. Those not picked stay on the list; some buyers report a "not selected" email, others hear nothing.
- Latest: Delta Reign Booster Box, $160.99, limit 1. Invite requests opened November 3; invited buyers checked out from November 6, 10:00 a.m. CT.
- Earlier: Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box at $49.99, limit 1, in rounds on October 22 and October 30.
- Best Buy prices are MSRP; no fee to request.
Amazon: invite-only listings
Amazon sold the 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box at $59.99 by invite in late October. While a round is open the product page shows Request invite instead of Add to cart; if Amazon accepts your request, the invite link stays valid for 72 hours. Check the seller is Amazon itself: sealed Pokémon on Amazon mixes Amazon's own stock with marketplace resellers at higher prices.
Many Realms: online drawing
The hobby shop Many Realms ran a drawing for the 30th Celebration Ultra-Premium Collection (Espeon version) on November 6, through the EQL launch platform: $179.99 plus a $5.40 Run Fair fee charged to winners, one entry per person, free to enter. The launch page read "Launch closed" the same day. Drawings like this are the easiest to miss.
Pokémon Center
Pokémon Center US doesn't run drawings for its own releases. It uses a virtual queue: you wait in line when the drop starts. The October 27 Poster Collection queue sold out in about an hour.
